Le Sueur, Minnesota
In my library is Death of the Dream - Classic Minnesota Farmhouses by William G. Gabler. Gabler says, "It seemed to me that something wonderful had passed away, and nothing was coming in its place. The old farmhouses were doomed, there was no way to save them, but their great homeliness and variety could be recorded in photographs."
From a child's composition book lying in the refuse of an abandoned farmhouse:
Then give me but my homestead
I'll ask no palace dome
For I can live a happy life
With those I love at home
I enjoyed visiting and talking about possibilities and missing pieces. Kudos to you and your family for saving a classic Minnesota farmhouse!
